Dr. Fred Ruder & Melanie Ruder
Husband and wife team Fred and Melanie Ruder are co-owners of Seacrest Dental.
Dr. Fred Ruder has been a dentist for more than thirty years, receiving his DDS from the University of Maryland in 1981, and he loves his job even more today than when he was fresh out of school. His love for his work is apparent in his commitment to both his patients and his family. Even patients who have moved to other states return to our Santa Rosa Beach dental practice to see Dr. Ruder!
Dr. Ruder's rewarding career has played a huge role in the career choices of his children, with both of his and Mel's sons, Reese and Ross, becoming dentists. Reese recently joined Seacrest Dental and Ross began dental school at the University of Maryland in 2014.
Throughout Dr. Ruder's career, he has made a point of continuing his education and staying on top of the latest technology and improvements in techniques so that he can always provide his patients with the most modern, up-to-date, efficient, and comfortable dentistry possible.
Melanie Ruder is our office manager, and she keeps us organized so that the practice can operate effectively and efficiently. This makes it easier for meet our patients' needs and take our time caring for them. Melanie has received training in expanded function for dental auxiliary. She knows our patients well and is always ready to help. She loves caring for our patients and working together with her husband and son.
Dr. Ruder and Mel are parents to Reese, Ross, and Ellee Ruder. The Ruders love animals, at home they have three dogs, two cats, two birds, a lizard, and a hedgehog! Dr. Ruder also enjoys playing sports, including racquetball, tennis, and biking. He is constantly renovating his home, and our office features several of Dr. Ruder's watercolor and oil paintings.
When Mel is not in the office, she enjoys taking the time to relax and unwind.
Our kind and helpful receptionist, Melissa, joined our practice in 2014 and received her education at Gulf Coast State College. A Panama City native, Melissa is excited to be working with a great group of people and loves making sure that each of our patients is happy and well taken care of.
Melissa is married and has two children and loves spending time her family.
Outside of the office, Alexis enjoys spending time with her daughter and her friends and holding family gatherings. She's also an avid reader and loves the beach and the local springs.
Reception & Dental Assistant
Flexible Alexis can be found either behind the counter assisting you with scheduling and insurance or beside you, getting you all set for your appointment. Originally from Pineville, Louisiana, Alexis received her expanded functions dental auxiliary training from Northwest Florida State, and she's been with our practice since 2012.
Alexis loves the friendly atmosphere at Seacrest Dental and the excellent teamwork that goes on between our skilled staff. "Everyone puts the patients first," she says, and this contributes to the helpful and happy, family-oriented workplace.
You might say dental hygiene runs in our hygienist Courtney's family... her mother, Effie, is another one of our talented hygienists! Originally from Colorado, Courtney has been with our practice since 2011 and has an associate's of science degree in dental hygiene.
When Courtney isn't polishing teeth and educating patients about their dental health, she can usually be found soaking up the Florida sun!
Effie is one of our skillful and gentle dental hygienists. When you meet with her, she will not only get your teeth perfectly clean, she'll also educate you on good home care habits to help you keep your teeth healthy. Effie received her associate's degree in dental hygiene in 2001 from Gulf Coast State College, then returned for additional schooling and received her bachelor's degree in 2005, graduating cum laude.
As a "military brat," Effie has lived all over the country, but she considers Panama City Beach home, and she has been with Seacrest Dental for fourteen years. She loves her interactions with her patients, and she has been caring for many of them for years. For Effie, it means a lot to learn about her patients and their families and having the opportunity to care for an entire family – from children to grandparents! Effie says, "It's extremely gratifying to see someone go from almost losing their teeth to turning around completely and having good oral health."
Outside of the office, Effie likes to get lost in a good book and soak up the Florida sun. She makes a point of watching the sunset every night and loves to spend time with her family – and to just listen to some good rock and roll!
